Let’s get right to it!
Common Summertime AC Problems
Summertime is the season when problems start to appear in your air conditioner. It makes sense, this is when we’re using them heavily and we’re relying on them to carry us through heatwaves with cool, comfortable temperatures. By using our air conditioners more, we’re more likely to encounter problems down the line. Here are a few common ones that we urge homeowners to call for professional help with.
Strange Sounds From Your AC
Air conditioners should not be making uncomfortable noises. Comfortable noises are things you’d expect, like the sound of whooshing air coming from your air vents, or the sound of a gently whirring system that’s obviously busy cooling your air. Uncomfortable noises can be anything loud, unexpected, or strange like hissing, bubbling, grinding, buzzing, rattling, or clanging. Call us if you detect any of these sounds.
Foul Odors
Sometimes an air conditioner can start perpetuating mold throughout your home because of a clogged condensate drain or pan. This drain is supposed to deposit all the condensed water from the cooling process somewhere outside of your home. But when the drain or pan gets clogged, the water will become stagnant and ripe for mold growth. This scent can be easy to detect since it smells like “dirty socks” coming from your air vents.
Clogged Air Filter
Your air filter needs to be changed out every 1-3 months. Especially if we start dealing with a record-breaking summer that requires us to use our air conditioners all day, you might just want to change the filter monthly. This filter helps weed out contaminants like dust and debris from harming the sensitive components of your AC system. It also improves energy efficiency!
Refrigerant Leak
When you turn on your air conditioner, do you hear a bubbling or hissing noise? Or perhaps it’s just providing your home with lukewarm air no matter how low the thermostat is set? You could be dealing with a refrigerant leak. This is a kind of issue that shows itself in a number of different ways, and our team can find the root of the problem and repair it.
